No shit, this is what my 60+ y/o father thinks about girls aged 18-24:

image

I no longer talk to him. My uncle and brother say it’s natural for men to be attracted to younger women (but that young???) and I’m just tired.

It makes me think, what if some creep his age was trying to woo me at 18, was my Father not going to do anything because he doesn’t think there was anything wrong? Or was it only right if it was him?

They don’t see the power imbalance. They don’t see how uncomfortable that is to a girl. All they see is someone easier to “manage” because they want to validate their “power and authority as a man” that they feel entitled to by the status quo.

theconcealedweapon

"It's not because they're creeps. It's because (list of the exact reasons why an adult would want to date a child)."

If you want your partners to obey you, and you prefer them younger because you believe that makes obedience more likely, then you have the exact same patterns as a pedophile. The only difference is that you're trying to protect yourself from legal trouble.

gremlintrash

They DO see the power imbalance lol... they like the power imbalance, it is a large part of the appeal. Even your dad uses the words "respect" and "subservient" interchangeably when he is describing what is appealing about barely adult women, as well as admitting that they are essentially a blank slate you can train up to be an ideal wife.

(I've seen a post going around with these WW impersonator tweets and I wanted to respond to this one but I don't want to possibly start discourse on a 50K+ note post so...lol)

Weight Watchers is absolutely disgusting and these corporate impersonator accounts are great, but the idea that Gen Z hates themselves less than our moms did is just…not true. Weight Watchers’ business model is no longer fashionable, but we would be remiss to ignore the multitudes of substitutes that have taken its place. We’re talking about the coquette-fitspo-tiktok-water-cleanse-I-need-to-be-the-sexiest-girl-in-the-supermarket-social-media-from-age-three generation. We don’t need to act like our mothers were self-hating idiots for responding to the same social pressures that get us today, or pretend that we’re somehow more enlightened - more realistically, Gen Z girls watched their moms do Weight Watchers and not lose weight, so they moved on to methods that seemed more effective and appealing. We have to recognize the new forms of weight loss exploitation culture so we can actually respond to them effectively, for ourselves and others.

my professor called andrea dworkin “anti-fun” and i feel like that is an accurate depiction of where liberal feminism is at right now

bugblr

>spent her life crusading against the sexual exploitation of women
>”anti-fun”

i’m concerned about their idea of fun!

blackswallowtailbutterfly

According to my grandmother, who met her in person, she in fact had a wicked sense of humour.

nomenculture

Reminds me of what @savingseeds23’s has written about. Queer theory is all about being playful. It evades any serious discourse, and criticizes any serious discourse. It’s not meant to be a tool that challenges oppression. It functions as a toy.

softer-skeleton

i wonder if liberalism is so nihilistic because there is a sense of powerlessness in in our culture right now, like we are too poor to fight the rich, to fight our bosses, to fight global warming, etc. almost like, ‘there’s no point trying to change anything, so may as well have fun while we can!’

Just saw a video where this guy was talking about his wife’s abusive ex. And he says he has the urge to say “at least I don’t hit you” whenever she reminds him of something he promised to do but didn’t. Men are trash.

miss-these-takes

All men benefit from abusive men. In this case, the bar has been so lowered that not inflicting physical harm is seen by this man as something his partner should thank him for.

I love how tumblr as a whole has done a 180 on the not like other girls phenomenon and somehow created an entirely new and completely antiquated form of misogyny that states that women who don’t enjoy conforming to gender roles are the real sexists because women who don’t naturally enjoy the roles placed upon them and refuse to submit it’s because of internalized misogyny and not because gender roles are restrictive bullshit

“Shout Your Abortion” author Lindy West on the dangers of criminalizing abortions.

liberalsarecool

Poverty is a construct created and maintained by policies like criminalizing abortion.

searchingforproofsthatimwrong

This is so stupid. No a conservative politicians wife is not "always" gonna be able to have an abortion, she is only gonna be able to have an abortion when HE wants her to have one which is completely fucking different.

"Well you see, this obvious misogynistic rule is actually about class"is not the hot take y'all think it is. Can you fucking focus on women for once ???

disillusionedmonster

Women's oppression cannot exist separately. These people always treat it like some sort of tack on where there are always classes of women who are able to use their privilege (rich, white, straight) to escape it. Too bad that that's not how axis of oppression work. It's just another way to shift the conversation and blame back to women instead of pointing the finger at the oppressor class, men.

Women are so devalued in Canada that they’re willing to sacrifice the privacy and dignity of an untold number of us, just so one man can enjoy the freedom to express his fetish in public.

apologies for this ridiculously long megathread, but i found a ton of these photographs of taylor from when before she was famous, around ages 14-16, and ooh boy, did they get me thinking…

sometimes i wonder if she just really lucked out with the mostly desexualized “innocent girl-next-door” persona becoming her brand throughout her early career, because it looks like things could have gone in a very different direction for her in another universe.

like you can literally see taylor being de-aged between her debut and fearless era as her public image cemented…the posing, the makeup, the hair, the clothing…it’s all very deliberate and sinister.

and now, all these years later, no one knows better than taylor herself that the most desirable thing a woman can be is not a woman, but a girl…a sexy baby, if you must.

her heart-shaped sunglasses, nothing new, the ten minute version of all too well, would’ve could’ve should’ve…she knows all about society’s sickness, its simultaneous fetishization and destruction of girlhood. she knows because she’s lived through it.

we don’t often categorize her or think of her as one, but she was a child star, and she barely escaped its curse. just barely. but unlike so many other child stars, unlike dolores haze, she survived with her voice and her pen, and she can see it all now, it was wrong.

look, if you cannot be in public barefaced without being self-conscious & feeling like shit, then your decision to wear makeup is not a choice freely made

Shut up

it’s actually too late for that, I already wrote this and you already read it and it’s in your head now! you’re welcome btw

starinyourhand

It is so fascinating that every time someone breathes a whisper of criticism about makeup being mandatory for half the population, hordes of y'all will pile in to tell them to eat glass and die in a fire. Really interesting how y'all will walk over hot coals to defend it no matter how terrible it makes you feel without it. Shockingly, criticism of a societal phenomenon is not necessarily “hatred”. If it’s so important to you that your self esteem is demolished without it, maybe think about why that’s not really much of a choice
